#Fantasy #TV #Review: Game of Thrones (2013), Season 3, Episode 1 (Some Spoliers)

Giants, dragons, magical creatures and a more sonorous theme. Things are definitely coming to the boil in this new season. I mean giants, come on! GIANTS! That bit blew me away.

Over the sea in Astapor, Daenerys “Stormborn” Targaryen (the blonde) is buying a fearsome slave army. Jon Snow (the one of dubious parentage) has joined the Free Folk beyond the Wall. Tyrion (the unloved) has, at last, come to realise the true extent of his father’s hatred. Baelish (the deviant) is up to something, almost certainly awful, with Joffrey’s out-of-favour betrothed Sansa Stark (the innocent)… then I start to glaze over at the sheer number of characters! I’d quite like to see GRRM’s study.

It is good to see some of the more minor characters still around, like Jon’s portly friend Samwell Tarley (the one in the wrong job) and Tyrion’s delightfully amoral henchman Bronn (the assassin).

An excellent start to this new season of the dark fantasy.
