#Book #Review: Diary of a Wimpy Kid #Mauritius

I arrived in Mauritius yesterday and plan to stay here with the parental units while the legal work for the UK property we found gets sorted out.  I’m not going to say any more until I’m know everything is hunky-dory so as not to invoke the great and all-powerful Jinx.

Before I left I bought a copy of Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  Last night I read it and I must say this semi-autobiographical story of Kinney’s childhood presented in a mixture of text and cartoons is, for the most part, pretty damn entertaining.  The only thing I found a bit jarring is that the main character, Greg Heffley, is not particularly likeable.  Weird because, although he is on occasion mean, he is not any more nasty than Bart Simpson and a whole lot less mischievous than Calvin.  He just comes off as being a bit of horse’s behind.  Still, worth a quick read.
